Privacy Policy for File Organizer - VPN

Effective October 16, 2026 · Package com.cobaltfernsoftware.cobalt.filevpn

File Organizer - VPN is operated by Cobaltfern Software LLC. This notice explains the organizer and reader data kept on the device and the transient processing required for VPN service.

Files and documents on the device

The app reads the files and folders the user permits it to access. Names, paths, metadata, document contents, thumbnails, favorites, reading positions, and requested file operations are handled locally for browsing, search, organization, reading, media preview, sharing, and printing. Document bodies are not sent to the VPN provisioning endpoint for rendering.

Storage access and APK handoff

All files access enables the advertised whole-device file-management features. Package-install access is used only after the user selects a local APK and asks Android to open it. Android presents a separate installer confirmation; the app cannot silently approve or complete an installation.

Optional VPN and transient network processing

The VPN remains off until the user selects Connect, reviews an in-app disclosure, and grants Android VPN consent. It creates an encrypted WireGuard tunnel to sabletextfolio.com:51820. Provisioning at https://sabletextfolio.com/vpn/v1/provision receives a random installation identifier and a generated WireGuard public key. The matching private key remains encrypted on the device.

To provide the requested tunnel, the endpoint necessarily processes the connecting IP address, connection timing, DNS requests, routing destinations, and traffic carried during the session. This processing is in memory for real-time service. The publisher reports that it does not retain installation identifiers, historical public keys, source-IP logs, connection timestamps, bandwidth totals, DNS-query logs, visited destinations, or traffic contents. A public key may remain in active WireGuard peer state only while it is needed to operate the current service.

Service provider and disclosures

Zenlayer hosts the VPN infrastructure in the United States and processes network data for the purpose of delivering the VPN. The configured DNS resolver is supplied with the active VPN profile; DNS requests are not retained as logs. The app contains no advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting service, and personal data is not sold.

Files leave the app only when the user deliberately chooses an Android share target, print service, package installer, or another destination. Those recipient services apply their own terms and privacy practices.

Local retention, security, and deletion

Local preferences, favorites, reading state, the random installation identifier, and encrypted VPN credentials remain until the user clears app data or uninstalls the app. User-directed file changes affect the selected files themselves. Transport encryption protects provisioning, WireGuard encrypts data between the device and tunnel endpoint, and Android Keystore protects private VPN key material at rest.

No user account is created and the publisher reports that no server-side VPN activity history is retained. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes the app's private local records. Privacy questions or concerns can be sent to privacy@cobaltfernsoftware.com.

Children

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly create profiles for children.

Policy updates

This notice may be revised when features, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
